GMC PD4501-066 - Lady Greyhound

Front driver's area

OK, it's still really ugly, but the carpeting is gone now. The yellow stuff is the carpet glue left behind. The beige paint is probably from the first owner after Greyhound Lines. The blue paint is definitely original greyhound. You can still see most of the lettering and decals from when it was in revenue service.

The round holes in the ceiling are from the installation of the roof-mounted air horns... by a complete idiot. Apparently they didn't understand the concept of grinding or drilling out the rivets on the ceiling panels, then re-riveting it back in place. Instead, they drilled holes at intervals. Actually, there's a lot of complete idiocy like that on this bus. At least one of those holes took out a large chunk of one of the structural cross-members.

You can see I removed the cover door from the destination sign. It's mostly intact, including the mechanism for advancing the roll sign. Unfortunately, the spool for the sign is not there. I left the door off so it can be cleaned, stripped and repaired.

Hmmm, maybe I should get an axe to go in here...
